I’m reading The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe to my daughter at night. I had it read to me when I was small and absolutely loved it. So as she is aware of Narnia because of the film (which I haven’t taken her to see) I thought she might enjoy it. However this is the first time I have actually read it. The thing is… it’s a lousy book! I don’t know how anyone can call Harry Potter when C S Lewis’ writing was so poor! | |
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Narnia, Harry Potter, C S Lewis
It’s not lousy, you ignorant rodent! Go wash your mouth out with Turkish Delight! Boo! Witch, witch! 🙂
I really love TLTWATW, but it’s like many books – read it as a child and you get the most out of it: you are transported to a new world, you grow up reading about and developing relationships with characters. Much the same way as kids will look back at HP in years to come, I presume.
The film is fantastic too, for what it’s worth. Not quite a literal copy, it enhances some of the less cinematographic moments (scarietr chases and monsters for example).
