A lyric request for Gail… sorry it didn’t make it to the Lyrics site but I listed it here for you instead. And despite the fact that I left Sarah and Michael’s a little worse for wear, and then spent the rest of the night singing into the white porcelain bowl, I still managed to remember the name of the song without the need for the piece of paper that I wrote it down on! So, it only took me three attempts of asking you for the name but I stuck eventually!
lyric, Lyrics, porcelain, Roy OrbisonPenny Arcade
Sammy King – Roy OrbisonA light shown in the night some way ahead,
blue turned into green then it was red
And stirring the night love music played
the light I saw in the night was a penny arcadeHey step up and play each machine seemed to say,
as I walked round and round the penny arcade
Just ring the bell on the big bagatelle
and you’ll make all those colored lights cascade
And music played at the penny arcade,
yes it played and it played, played all the time
Roll up and spend your last dimeAt first I thought it a dream that I was in,
lost, lost in a sea of glass and tin
But no, so dipping my hand in the back of my jeans
I grabbed a handful of coins to feed the machineRepeat chorus
Oh! repeat chorus
Roll up and spend your last, roll up and spend your last,
Roll up and spend your last dime
porcelain, Roy Orbison
Thanks for the lyrics – not sure they will stand up to your scrutiny but the song brings back loads of childhood memories for me.
Bet Victoria was pleased you spent the night chatting on the big white phone – hope you still managed to cook the goose!!
I liked the lyric, but didn’t feel its place was on lyrics are poetry.
Luckily I managed to spend the night barfing alone, so everyone else got a good night sleep. I was just a little more delicate than usual on Sunday so my par-tici-pa-tion with the goose dinner was less than would have been expected. However there we more than enough capable hands around… 🙂
