Here are some screenshots showing the new UI. One also shows of the new sun. We’ve played around a lot with the effects layers. There are now different suns and moons depending on the time of day etc.
Worse things happen at sea…
Well, it seems all my bad karma has come down on me at the same time. Firstly, the new publisher of our Club Manager games, filed for bankruptcy this week, owing us in excess of 150k! This has hit us hard while we were still trying to recover from the “problems” caused by the premier league two years ago. So at the moment we are fighting at work to keep the company afloat while trying to build 90 sku’s with just a few people.
I’ve got builders in at the moment; actually I’ve had them in for 2 months now which is the problem… and it doesn’t look like getting resolved anytime soon. A whole catalogue of disasters have occured with them, needless to say, I’ve spent a shit load of money and haven’t got what I want yet… and have been living in a shit hole for a lot of that time.
We’ve been without a kitchen and more importantly a cooker, for 2 weeks now; fun when you’ve got 2 small kids.
Lots of problems on the builder front!
Nearly all my appliances have died. Admittedly we were replacing them as part of the new kitchen… see the problem here!
A lot of my new appliances have had to be sent back with damages during transit!
My cold water tank has started overflowing… needs a new stop cock thingy…
My shower has started leaking again… so we have been on baths for the last week!
Got a parking ticket today; the two multi story car parks have been made into one while they refurbish… making parking a nightmare at work. Parked on the street at a pay and display… and forget about it!
The kettle gave up tonight, and with no way of boiling water other than a microwave… not great for coffee!
this list seems to go on and on…

Where art thou Romeo
I watched half of Baz Luhrman’s “William Shakespeare’s Rome + Juliet” last night. And although the film was excellently shot and produced, it couldn’t get me past one thing… Shakespeare. What the f##k is he going on about? There are many beautiful lines in Romeo + Juliet and these are amplified by the context of the actors in the film and Baz Luhrman’s interpretations, but on the whole I just can’t keep with the plot.
—
Romeo: Has my heart loved ’till now? Forswear it, sight! For I never saw a true beauty ’till this night
—
Juliet:
My only love sprung from my only hate!
Too early seen unknown, and known too late!
Prodigious birth of love it is to me,
That I must love a loathed enemy
—
Juliet: What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;

Actually, reading Shakespeare is at least easier.
I’ve never really got into Shakespeare, although I like many of the reinterpretations, and Mel Gibson’s Hamlet is about the best that stay close to the original narrative, I just get lost in the text; I just don’t understand it!
I guess I would have enjoyed the film had it ditched the original text.

Programming Is A Poetry For Our Time
I was reading through the poetry blog of Mark Hibbet… Hey Hey 16k for those of you who know it, and those who don’t go and check it out now..
Anyway, I cam across this gem;
Programming Is A Poetry For Our Time.
Take a complicated idea
And make the underlying point of it clear
Compress it down to fit in memory
Now tell me what’s the difference
Between programming and poetry?Programming is a poetry for our time
It’s a poetry for our time
…
I’ve snippet the rest for copyright reasons, but you can check it out here…
